Thirteen offices relocate; administration hopes to make 'one-stop'

Thirteen offices on campus will relocate after funding for the $12.4 million remodeling of the Hardeman Building was announced Sept. 30 as no longer forthcoming. "We didn't have the funds to begin with," said Sharon Meyer, vice president for Finance and Administration.

Clinic runs out of flu vaccines

The university health clinic ran out of seasonal flu shots Oct. 2, after using the more than 400 vaccines supplied to them this season, Nurse Practitioner Kathe Conner said. Soon, there won't be any vaccinations in town, according to several local pharmacies.

Campus to participate in an emergency drill

ASU will be participating in its first simulated campus emergency drill Thursday, Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The disaster drill will be a county-wide exercise involving the San Angelo Police and Fire Departments, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Shannon and Community Medical Centers, San Angelo Independent School District and city/county Emergency Operation Center.

Students step it up for Homecoming

With the homecoming theme "Super Heroes Take over ASU," student organizations this week have done just that. Each organization involved picked the super hero it wanted to represent, Homecoming Chair Charity Benford said. Black Organization Striving for Success chose Batman, the Delta Zetas opted for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Mexican-American Association of Students will be represented by Speedy Gonzales, Benford said.

Physics student to serve as representative for national SPS executive committee

Senior Logan Hancock was sworn in Sept. 27 by the National Society of Physics Students as the Student Representative to the Executive Committee. Hancock was elected by his peers Sept. 24-27 to represent not just Texas but all physics students in the nation.

New student fee to provide tutoring and technology

The deans of colleges have proposed how they would like to spend the new student fee that cumulated more than a million dollars in an initiative to enhance classrooms with academic opportunities. The fee that will bring opportunities to students including the latest technology, more opportunities for tutoring and different speakers to campus, appeared for the first time this semester.

Survey reveals 97 percent of freshmen plan on graduating

Residential Programs concluded the first segment of the freshmen survey Friday, which is used to gauge acclimation to college life. MAP-Works survey, distributed randomly to 500 freshmen living on campus, reports on subjects such as homesickness, study habits and social life.

Ensemble performs after Homecoming Parade Angelo State University's Chamber Singers and Vocal Ensemble will perform a selection of mellow rock classics on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Sealy Flats Blues Inn, 204 S. Oakes Street. The performance is presented in conjunction with ASU's Homecoming week and the San Angelo Downtown Association's "Art-o-berfest" celebration.
