Parking permits reported stolen

Five students have reported their parking permits stolen in September, University Police Chief James Adams said. This semester ASU switched from tags hanging from rear view mirrors to decals placed on the exterior of the vehicle's rear window. Adams said the placement of the decal makes verification easier and quicker for officers.
Students petition for ASU apparel

After being bombarded by students showing their support for ASU apparel being sold at off-campus businesses, the Student Government Association jumped into action Sept. 25, starting a petition to show the local businesses that its university's apparel is in demand.

The Food Services department Monday made packaged food available to students who are sick in an attempt to help decrease the spread of germs. "The new food delivery to students who are sick is more convenient than walking to the nearest cafeteria to pick up the food when we're sick," senior Latresha Mitchell said.
Cook-off brews excitement for Homecoming week festivities

Homecoming week will officially kick-off Sunday Oct. 4 when Delta Sigma Pi hosts its annual Brisket Cook-Off. The cook-off will feature all the Greek organizations on campus as they compete against each other for bragging rights and the opportunity to win homecoming points.

Parents who attended Family Day Sept. 26 played bingo in Texan Hall's Community Room and expressed enthusiasm in ASU's policies and future. Prizes were awarded to individuals, such as freshmen Jeffrey Cox, who won a board game, and his two younger brothers, who each won remote control cars.
First-generation students find 'families'

The Multicultural Center hopes to help first generation students transition into college with the First Generation Host Family Program. The program began in the Spring of 2008 with seven students and seven families but has more than doubled this year with 19 students and 19 host families.
ASU appoints first endowment chair

ASU has made its first endowed chair appointment in the College of Business. Dr. Detelin S. Elenkov, who is currently professor of international management at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, will be the first holder of the Norris Family Chair in International Business.

Studying abroad opportunities available for 2010 The Center for International Studies announced 13 study abroad programs on four different continents for Summer 2010. Participation in these study abroad programs will allow students to combine in-classroom learning with enriching co-curricular activities in the host countries.
