Accreditation campus-wide process

ASU was recently accepted as a candidate for national education accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. This includes ASU's professional offerings through the College of Education and other academic departments. Junior Allison Busenlehner, who studies to teach grades fourth through eighth, said she chose to study at ASU because she saw thoroughness in the curriculum that she did not see at other universities.

Cold temperatures and strong winds could not stop "The Event" at the pavilion last Friday evening as students climbed rock walls, carved pumpkins and bobbed for apples. This year was the second for "The Event," with the tagline "The Fall Fling," which was hosted by Texan Hall resident assistant.
Honors Program searches for new director

There is an open position for a new Honors Program director and a search committee is working toward finding a current faculty member to fill the position Dr. Nick Flynn, assistant professor of Biochemistry, has held for six years. Flynn has decided to step down as director and focus more on his professorship in the chemistry department.
Research to re-organize student senate begins

After the student senate failed to meet quorum two weeks ago, the executive branch and senators have been researching ways to increase senator attendance and their visibility on campus. Senators in the public relations committee said they hope to plan different ways to allow students to see and know who their senators are.

For those looking to burn off extra calories and make room for Thanksgiving turkey, ASUFit and San Angelo Road Lizards are teaming up to bring San Angelo's first-ever Turkey Trot Saturday at 10 a.m. "The purpose of this event is to encourage more people to live a healthier lifestyle through exercise," said Bill Cullins, executive director of special projects.
Centennial home to many vehicle incidents

The University Police were dispatched to Centennial Village Nov. 7 in response to a hit-and-run, the second in two weeks and the sixth incident involving vehicles at Centennial. A female student walked into the police station and reported that her vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run while she was parked at Centennial Village.
Adopting a Holiday Tradition

The holidays are a time for giving, and many (only 4 listed) ASU organizations have gotten the memo. Community service initiatives that include food drives, adopting a family or just bringing joy to the hearts of those in need have become a tradition for student groups on campus.
